After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto, Rick worked for the Canadian federal government for three years before earning a Diploma in Programming Technology from Control Data Institute and embarking on a two-decade-long career as a software developer for two Toronto-based software houses. He then spent eleven years with Nortel Networks, starting out as an IT team leader, but spending the last seven as a QMS and process improvement specialist, developing and supporting ISO 9001, TL 9000 and ISO/IEC 17025 management systems and earning a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. For the next 6-1/2 years, Rick was a freelance QMS consultant, delivering training and conducting third party audits for four global certification and training bodies, and providing QMS implementation and custom training services to organizations including Huawei Canada and BroadConnect Telecom. Since September 2015, he has been the TL 9000 Program Manager for the certification body NQA (National Quality Assurance).
Rick is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), an Exemplar Global certified QMS Lead Auditor, an ESD Association certified Assessor, and a QuEST Forum certified TL 9000 Expert.
